Quilting 101 & 102

Every year the Big Canoe Quilt Guild offers group classes to anyone who would like to learn to quilt. It typically starts in January and is once a week for several months. The instructor will choose a ‘sampler’ pattern that typically includes teaching several different quilting techniques. By the end of the course, the students will have learned:

  • How to read a quilt pattern
  • How to choose fabric for the pattern
  • Numerous quilting techniques
  • How to take a finished/pieced top and make a sandwich ready to quilt
  • How to bind and finish the quilt

Quilting 101 and 102 will kick off their new year on January 7th at 11am. The meeting will be held at the Big Canoe Chapel, McCormick Hall. This will be an organizational meeting that will tell you about our classes, go over needed supplies and sign up for the class you choose. Please plan to attend if you are interested in one of these classes.

Our classes will begin on January 14th, 9-12, at the Jasper library. (Carpooling will be addressed). Classes will be 8 weeks long. You will need a sewing machine in good working condition for both classes.
We hope you will join us if you have an interest in learning to quilt or advancing your skills in quilting.
