YOU ARE INVITED!
Becky Goldsmith, an award-winning quilter who travels to teach quilting both nationally and internationally, will be the guest speaker for the Jasper Out on a Limb Quilt Guild meeting, Wednesday, September the 20th, 1:00 pm. Her classes are always interesting and informative, with an emphasis on teaching techniques that help you improve your sewing skills without making you crazy.
Becky started Piece O' Cake Designs with Linda Jenkins in 1994. They published more than 30 books and hundreds of patterns, including 7 Blocks of the Month. Linda retired in 2014 and Becky has continued writing books and patterns.
Making quilts is interesting, fulfilling, and challenging—and being a member of the quilting community is an added bonus. Becky never imagined that being a quilter would become her life’s work, but she’s so happy that it did!
There will be a social time beginning at 12:30 pm. There is a $5.00 fee for non-members. Location Pickens County Community Center.
We are planning to coordinate a carpool to this event and if you would like to join us please contact Dianne Mallini or Barb Fraser to be added to the carpool list, please let us know if you are willing to drive. Details to be finalized closer to meeting date.

Bring your completed Christmas Tree “Lotto Blocks” for your chance(s) to win a complete set of blocks to make a beautiful, fun holiday quilt top. There may be more than one! Please note...you must be present to be eligible to participate in the Christmas Tree Lotto Block drawing. We have an afternoon filled with discussions of all things quilting and opportunities for making new friends. Lunch is included, compliments of Pine Needle Quilters and dessert will be compliments of our guests from Jasper.
There will be door prizes and a few surprises in store for all. You must be present to win if you are participating in the Lotto Blocks, but you are welcome to attend even if you do not bring a lotto block for the drawing.
Our main objective is to get to know our fellow guild members from Jasper and build a relationship for sharing instructors, workshops and just having fun together. There will be a sign-up sheet at the September 5th meeting with more details about our event. Contact Dianne Mallini or Barb Fraser for questions or more information.
October 19, Laura Heine Collage Quilt Workshop, Chapel McCormick Hall, 10-4:00 PM
You may be asking yourself “What is a collage quilt?” Well, collage quilting is done by layering small pieces of fabric to make a design in an artistic fashion and is surprisingly forgiving… as in it’s hard to make a real mistake. Collage quilts can be made from different colors and types of fabric as well as different shapes and sizes of fabrics. A great way to use up some of those scrapes you have been wondering what to do with. Also, easy for all skill levels!
This workshop, presented by Karen Williams, Guild member and experienced quilter and longarmer, will demonstrate her method for making this beautiful thread spool collage piece. Finished dimensions are 22”x27”. Karen will be providing more details regarding this fun, creative event at our September business meeting. Supply list as well as class sign-up sheet available at that time.
