2024 Schedule - Subject to Change
Our programs and business meeting are on the first Tuesday of the month in McCormick Hall at the Big Canoe Chapel. Social time begins at 12:30 and the meeting at 1. Workshops are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month at the Beach Club. Any exceptions and details are below,

Jan. 18 - Marketplace Sew In
Beach Club, 10am-4pm
Join us and bring your favorite project(s) to work on for our Quilt Show MarketPlace Sew In. If you are in need of a couple of ideas, Kim and Julie will have plenty of items, inspiration, and patterns for you to choose from. Bring your holiday fabrics to use and all your sewing machine accessories. Let's get this project off to a great start! February 6 - Math in Quilting
McCormick Hall, 12:30 - 1:00 Social Time, 1:00- 3:00 Program and Business Meeting
Join us as Sue Hauseman, Linda Chadwick and Karen Williams take the mystery out of math in quilting. The program will lead us into introducing the idea of a small group project of round robin quilts or row by row quilts.
Feb. 15 - Elisabeth Frolet Crazy Quilt Square
Beach Club, 10am-4pm
We are thrilled to have award winning quilter,Elisabeth Frolet, back for a Crazy Quilt Square workshop on Thursday, February 15th. Elisabeth's magnificent crazy quilt won a First Place ribbon at Paducah several years ago. Sue Wilson will be offering a basic embroidery stitch instructions class on January 22nd at the Village Station from 9:00 am - 12:30 pm. Space for embroidery class is limited so contact Sue Wilson at sw4136@yahoo.com as soon as possible.
The cost for the Crazy Quilt Square workshop is $65.00 (non-refundable) and the embroidery class is included in that fee if you wish to attend. Sign-ups currently in progress. Contact Diane LaCharite or Sue Wilson for further details.
Please note that you do not have to take the embroidery class to participate in the crazy quilt workshop.

April 2 Common Thread, Dahlonega field trip
10:30 am at Common Thread Quilt Store in Dahlonega program will be demonstrations of a new tool, a new strategy, sewing machine maintenance and LOTS of shopping with a discount….details to be announced for car pooling

Things you need to know:
SewCation Hours 8:30 am - 6:00 pm
Limited parking at Center. Preferred parking space in next door school parking lot close to Center
Unloading your machine and accessories will be at an assigned time. Your time will be given to you following breakfast inside the Center. Committee peeps available to help you unload.
Breakfast will consist of casseroles, fruit, baked goods and coffee. Included in your registration fee. Bring your own coffee mug, Yeti or drink container.
Lunch will be provided daily included in your registration fee.
You may bring "goodies" to share. This would be your favorite snacks.
No personal irons allowed!
Remember to bring strips and extension cords, pillow for your chair, UFO's and donations for Marketplace.

June 4 - Patty Vatter Trunk Show and Pop Up Shop
Pickens County Community Center, Jasper, GA 12:30-1:00 pm Social, 1:00 Meeting with Pop Up Shop to Follow
We have been invited to share the Jasper "Out on a Limb Quilt Guild's" meeting featuring Patty Vatter and her trunk show consisting of all things wool applique, punch needle, and embroidery. She will have her "Pop Up" Shop where you can do some shopping following her presentation. More details to come.
June 20 - Marketplace Sew In
Beach Club - 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Another chance to devote a full day to sewing on your Marketplace projects. Bring those items you may be trying to finish up or have finished. If you are in need of inspiration, there will be plenty on hand. More details as we get closer to the day.
July 2 - no meeting
July 18 Quilts of Valor Sew In
Beach Club, 9am-3:30pm
All materials will be provided as well as easy patterns. If you don’t complete your kit that day, take it home to finish and turn it in later. There will be individual quilt blocks to sew and someone else will complete the piecing of the quilt blocks. You may want to partner with someone…one person sews the other presses and trims. If you just want to drop by to pick up a kit to sew at home, come on bye. You may also pick up a kit anytime from Margie Halls margiehalls@gmail.com

August 6 - HollyAnne Knight of String and Story

HollyAnne Knight of String and Story in Duluth will be our presenter. HollyAnne’s quilting journey began in 2015 while a mother of 2 young children. She started an online quilting education company and has taught hundreds of quilters to do free motion quilting. She now has a brick and mortar store as well. The most current issue of Quiltfolk features Georgia quilters and she is profiled. She will present a program on free motion quilting.
August 15 - Community Service Sew In
Beach Club, 9am-3:30pm
We will be working on community service projects. Lunch will be provided so register for the day by contacting Sue Wilson sw4136@yahoo.com. We will add specifics regarding the projects in the next few weeks.
September 3 - Tammy Silvers Hack that Pattern
McCormick Hall, 12:30 - 1:00 Social Time, 1:00- 3:00 Program and Business Meeting
Tammy Silvers, of Tamarini, will present a program titled Hack That Pattern. Do you have a favorite pattern, block, technique but you don’t want to make a quilt or something so time consuming. Do you have a traditional pattern and want to get a modern look? Tammy will give us strategies to make a project uniquely yours by reworking or hacking the pattern.
September 27, 28 - PNQ Quilt Show

October 1 - Little Quilts Trunk Show/Mary Ellen Von Holt

Mary Ellen Von Holt of Little Quilts will be doing a trunk show of her little quilts. Mary Ellen is local to the Atlanta area and has decades of experience creating little quilts, writing books and teaching. We are excited to have her present her creations and learn more about her quilting life.
October 17 - Social Comforts
Beach Club, 10am - 2pm
A time for ALL of us to have a meal of comfort foods, share some of our quilts or projects that comfort us and celebrate the successful quilt show. We will also be recognizing the new 2024 quilt members. Save the date to relax and be with your “quilt people.”
November 5 - Dollar Store Hacks
McCormick Hall, 12:30 - 1:00 Social Time, 1:00- 3:00 Program and Business Meeting
Every member will share with the group a hack that they have purchased and used from a Dollar Store. Each member will be asked to purchase 2, one to tell about and 1 to put in a basket for door prizes. Everyone will go home with a new hack for their quilt adventures.
